Formations

The last 2 days have been good for shooting. The underwater visibility has been particularly good, which means rich blues and greens in those waves. Not many people were out surfing, so most of my concentration was on underwater shots. The rest of the shots can be found here.

Here are a few that I find particularly easy on the eyes.

Visitors and Visions

Went to a local surf competition today and spotted a couple of guys I shot last week surfing. They went nuts when I gave them their prints. It's fun to watch people view - and enjoy - your creative work.

Adam is visiting from Portland and scrambles into the sun shirtless whenever the clouds break. Photo-wise, the weather hasn't been cooperating the last week. Onshore winds mean ugly waves, and lots of clouds have brought flat light.

Here's a shot that slipped through the cracks. It's from a couple of months ago - this guy definitely had no idea I was taking a picture of him. I can hold my breath for a long time.

Darn Kids

They're half my age and twice as good - visual evidence.

Macro Waves

A few shots from crawling around on my hands and knees in the shorebreak. After awhile you forget people are staring. If you'd like to see the rest, some of them came out nicely. The camera housing has a pistol grip on the bottom so it's hard to get those really low shots. I ended up taking all these pictures holding the camera upside down so I could get the lens as close as possible to the ground.

More goodies.

People on Kauai are totally stoked on the pictures I've gotten printed - I need to order more. In some ways, photography is more gratifying than film, because it's much easier to hand someone a photo than email them a link to a low-res YouTube video. So here's a few more. Enjoi.
